Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
